The dagger comes with a signed affidavit from Dick Grob, who first met Elvis Presley in 1967 in Palm Springs, where Elvis and Priscilla were spending their honeymoon and Grob was working as a police officer.Grob was assigned to provide personal protection to Elvis and the pair started a friendship that would last over ten years. Both Elvis and Dick were into collecting guns and knives, and Dick helped Elvis select many of his personal firearms and knives that he carried on his person. The letter details one afternoon when Grob and Elvis were shopping in Palm Springs at Elvis' favorite gun store where he eventually traded the owner a ring for several German WWII items.
Elvis told Dick that he did not want to take the items to Graceland as his father did not like war items, and asked Dick to take the weapons and keep them for him. This is one of those items, which Dick Grob kept in his possession over the years until Elvis' passing in 1977.
